Melissa Manousos

I’m a software engineer based in Los Angeles.

I currently work full time at PayPal within the Checkout & Beyond division. There I primarily use React (JavaScript and TypeScript), and GraphQL with Apollo. I have multiple years of experience writing back and front-end code in JavaScript, Ruby, PHP, and SQL, and am experienced with Docker, Rails, and React/Redux. I also recently launched Venice, a framework that simplifies deploying and managing event-stream processing pipelines with a small team.

When I'm not writing responsive applications and human-friendly code, I stay busy exploring the history of Los Angeles and its cinematic past. I enjoy listening to film podcasts and recently watched through the entire AFI Top 100.

Venice

I recently co-created Venice with a small remote team. Venice is an open-source framework for deploying event-stream processing pipelines.

Venice allows developers to process streaming event data from Apache Kafka using ksqlDB into a PostgreSQL data store. It includes a Node.js CLI to streamline pipeline development and management. It is implemented using Docker to maintain isolation and flexibility of components.
